Olympic: Australian Olympic Hockey Star Arrested in Paris for Alleged Drug Purchase

Tom Craig, a prominent Australian field hockey player and striker for the Kookaburras, has been detained in Paris under suspicion of purchasing coc@ine.

Craig, 28, was apprehended late Tuesday night in the Pigalle area during a police operation. According to FranceInfo, a respected public broadcaster, Craig was allegedly found with approximately one gram of coc@ine in his possession.

Authorities reported that Craig was seen near a building in the ninth arrondissement shortly after midnight. A source informed FranceInfo that police arrested two men during what appeared to be a drug transaction.

The Paris police's Narcotics Brigade is handling the investigation. In a statement, the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) confirmed that a team member is in custody but noted that no charges have been filed yet. The AOC is actively making inquiries and providing support for Craig.

It has been revealed that Craig was arrested just 15 minutes after leaving an Australian team event. The alleged dealer, a 17-year-old male, was reportedly carrying seven vials of coc@ine, 75 ecstasy tablets, and three grams of Mephedrone. Due to his age, the alleged dealer's identity remains confidential.

As of late Wednesday morning, Craig remains in custody in Paris.
