The closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics is set to feature Tom Cruise in a daring rooftop stunt at the Stade de France, marking the transition of the Olympic flag to Los Angeles.
Following the intricate opening ceremony along the River Seine, high expectations surround the final show, which will be more traditional and concise, held at France's national stadium.
Artistic director Thomas Jolly has revealed the ceremony will blend "wonder" with "dystopia," offering a darker tone compared to the joyous opening that captivated over a billion viewers worldwide.
Jolly described the Games as a "fragile monument," imagining their disappearance and subsequent reconstruction in a distant future. One segment will depict "travellers from another space-time" discovering Olympic remnants, with acrobats reassembling the iconic five rings.
The event will feature over 100 dancers, circus artists, and performers, with aerial displays, massive sets, and spectacular lighting.

While the opening ceremony saw stars like Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, and Aya Nakamura, Sunday promises more celebrity appearances. Cruise, a frequent Olympic attendee and daredevil actor, is expected to link Paris and the 2028 Los Angeles Games. Reports suggest he has prepared a stunt to transfer the Olympic flag to LA, with footage already filmed on both sides of the Atlantic.
Other Hollywood stars present at the Games, including Snoop Dogg, Eva Mendes, Ryan Gosling, and Sharon Stone, may also participate. Rumors suggest Beyonce, a vocal supporter of the US team, might perform.
French musical acts Air and Phoenix are confirmed to play, as reported by Le Parisien.
Organizers hope to avoid the controversy of the opening ceremony, which faced backlash for featuring drag queens in a sequence some viewed as mocking the Biblical Last Supper.
